What are ceramic coatings?
A ceramic coating is very comparable to a wax, except it is exceptionally better among almost all aspects.
Ceramic Coating [suh-ram-ik koh-ting] – are liquid polymer solutions that can be applied to various surfaces, providing protection, gloss, and hydrophobic properties.
When applied to a boat, the ceramic coating chemically bonds to the factory paint, providing a layer of protection along with additional properties. Just like wax, the coating needs to be applied by hand to the outside of a clean, prepped boat. Unlike wax though, ceramic coatings typically last multiple years and provide a more durable form of protection.

Not only do ceramic coatings add protection, they enhance the gloss of factory paint as well. Ceramic coatings are also hydrophobic, meaning they repel water and other contaminants like dirt, dust, tar, etc. These hydrophobic properties also make the boat nearly effortless to clean. Ceramic coatings are an exceptional upgrade to wax, and their longevity makes them a fantastic investment. Ceramic coatings are one of the newest innovations in the market, and their amazing results have ensured that they will be sticking around.
What a Ceramic Coating is Not
There are a few common misconceptions about what a ceramic coating can do for your boat. Ceramic coatings are not an alternative to PPF’s (paint protection films). Rather, they can be thought of as an upgrade to traditional wax. Here is a list of what ceramic coatings will not eliminate the risk of:
- Scratches
- Swirl Marks
- Rock Chips
- Water Spotting
Although a ceramic coating will not entirely protect your boat from these nuisances, the protection it will provide can reduce damage up to 75% compared to an uncoated boat. A ceramic coating also will not eliminate the need to wash and maintain your boat. Neglected ceramic coatings can reduce their longevity as well as reduce their shine.
Is a Ceramic Coating Worth it?
We believe that most boats can benefit from some sort of ceramic coating. Although these coatings will not give your boat superpowers, their added protection will ensure that your boat stays nicer for longer. On top of this added protection, ceramic coatings will enhance your boat's appearance, making sure that your investment stays of high value. Although ceramic coatings can be a little pricey, their longevity makes up for it. Traditional wax typically lasts a couple of months while ceramic coatings typically last a couple of years, meaning that in most cases, a ceramic coating will give you more bang for your buck.
Is your Boat eligible?
Ceramic coatings are not applicable for every boat. For a boat to be ceramic coated, it must undergo an extensive preparation process. This process almost always involves some form of paint compounding, correcting, and/or polishing. To do this, the factory paint will need to already be in good condition. This eliminates most older boat or any boat with neglected paint, as well as boats with moderate to severe dents, scrapes, or scratches. Ceramic coatings are excellent for boats that are newer and are in good condition. These coatings can be applied to your boat's paint, glass, leather, trim (inside and out), fabric, and interior plastics/vinyl.

What is a ceramic coating?
A Ceramic Coating is comparable to a wax, but better! Ceramic coatings are the glossiest, longest lasting, most durable form of protection currently on the market. They create a thin, hydrophobic layer on the top layer of your vehicles paint, chemically bonding to the vehicles paint underneath. Unlike a wax, a ceramic coating will not break down rapidly and will not require re-application every few months.
Will a ceramic coating cover up scratches?
No, a ceramic coating will not cover up scratches. In order to get rid of scratches, your vehicle must undergo a paint correction with a dual action polisher. All of our ceramic coating options contain varying levels of paint correction to enable maximum gloss post application.
Will I still need to wash my car?
Yes, you will still need to wash your car after a ceramic coating is applied. Ceramic coatings are hydrophobic, meaning they repel water. Although you will still need to wash your vehicle, the hydrophobic properties will allow you to minimize the effort for better results.
Can a ceramic coating go on any vehicle?
A ceramic coating can only be applied to vehicles that are in decent condition and that have been properly prepped. This typically excludes old vehicles, vehicles with lots of scratches or dents, and wrapped vehicles. We currently only offer ceramic coating for cars, SUVs, Trucks, and pretty much anything that drives on a main road.
